Republic Day 2025 Themed - "The Constitution of India: Our Pride and Guiding Light"
St. Mary’s English High School organized a series of Constitution-themed activities from 26th November 2024 (Constitution Day) to 26th January 2025 (Republic Day) to promote awareness about the Indian Constitution and instill a sense of patriotism among students and staff.
The culmination of the activities was a grand Republic Day celebration on 26th January 2025. The event, themed “The Constitution of India: Our Pride and Guiding Light”, was graced by the esteemed chief guest, Mr. Abhishek Shankar, Assistant Commandant of the RAF.
Flag Hoisting Ceremony:
The day began with the unfurling of the National Flag by Mr. Abhishek Shankar, accompanied by the singing of the National Anthem. In his inspiring address, he spoke about the sacrifices made for India’s independence and the relevance of the Constitution in protecting our rights and duties as citizens.
Cultural Performances:
Patriotic songs, dances, and a drama illustrating the drafting of the Indian Constitution were performed by students, leaving the audience inspired.
Student March-Past:
A vibrant and disciplined march-past by students was inspected by the chief guest, who appreciated their efforts and dedication.
Report on Constitution-Themed Morning Assemblies and Month-Long Activities
From 26th November 2024 onwards, the daily morning assemblies were centered around the theme “The Indian Constitution: Our Guiding Light”. Each assembly featured activities that encouraged participation, learning, and patriotism:
Morning Talks:
Students from different grades delivered short speeches on topics such as Fundamental Rights and Duties, The Making of the Constitution, and India’s Democratic Values.
Constitutional Facts:
Teachers and students shared interesting facts about the Constitution, such as its drafting process, the role of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, and its key principles.
Inspirational Quotes and Slogans:
Thought-provoking quotes by the framers of the Constitution and slogans emphasizing justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity were recited daily.
Acts and Skits:
Students performed engaging skits dramatizing historical moments, such as the drafting of the Constitution and its adoption on 26th January 1950.
Preamble Recitation:
Assemblies often included the recitation of the Preamble, fostering a deeper understanding of its message and significance.
Poster-Making Competition:
Students created vibrant and informative posters depicting constitutional values, symbols of India, and the significance of democracy.
Essay Writing and Debates:
Essay and debate competitions were held on topics like “The Relevance of the Constitution in Modern Times” and “Role of Fundamental Duties in Nation-Building”.
Human Chain Formation:
A special Human Chain was organized to symbolize unity and a collective pledge to uphold constitutional ideals.
Quiz Competitions:
Interactive quizzes on the Constitution were conducted to enhance students’ knowledge of its provisions and history.
